In our 50th anniversary year, it is my pleasure to extend our season's greetings to each and every member. This has been an eventful year and it is unfortunate that we are all facing difficult economic times, globally and here at home. The club is mindful of this and we will continue working to provide you and our patrons with good value in everything we provide, from our entertainment to our food and dining facilities.
Many of our members look upon Bankstown Sports as their second home. This is why we are constantly working towards improving the club and the quality of our service, making it as safe and as comfortable as possible.
Our Executive Chef, Helmut Gundendorfer and his team of chefs have taken charge of the catering at the Bankstown Sports Bowling Club, so I want to assure our members that you should see a great improvement in the quality of food on offer at the Bowling Club as we work actively to raise the profile on this facility, that is located in the heart of Bankstown.
It is now just a year since we opened our Italian Precinct, La Piazza. I am happy to inform you that at the recent Master Builders Association Construction Awards, Paynter Dixon won the club-entertainment refurbishment award for the design and construction of our indoor Italian piazza. I would like to congratulate Greg Howard, directors and the staff at Paynter Dixon. They have been our builders for over 25 years and have never let us down.
I am happy to report that our new ‘wichcraft Café is becoming very popular and our members and patrons have responded well to some of the additional activities we put on for our 50th anniversary. Our membership is growing and I am particularly proud of the fact that I have been a member since 1961 and a board director for the last 28 years. My request is that you encourage your children, grandchildren, friends and family members to become a member of Bankstown Sports in this our 50th year of successful operations. Remember clubs are a way of life in Australia and we must keep up the tradition.
As we approach the festive season may I, on behalf of our board of directors, wish each and every one of you a happy Christmas and a safe and enjoyable New Year.
John Murray, President
